Section 3
Security & Main Menu

When the RASWIN is first started it will display the Login Form,

You must enter your user_ID and your PASSWORD in the fields shown. These fields are not case-sensitive - your user_id entry can be upper or lower case and can contain any combination of up to 10 letters or numbers and symbols available on your keyboard. The password can be up to 30 characters long if you prefer to use a 'pass-phrase' rather than a more traditional and shorter password.

USER_ID and PASSWORD Entry

The cursor will be positioned on the user_id.

After entering your User_ID press TAB or ENTER to move to the PASSWORD field, or simply click on the PASSWORD field with your mouse. Enter your password and press the ENTER key.

The letters/numbers of the PASSWORD will replaced with a blocking character that covers up your entry so that no one can see your entry.

FIRST LOGIN PASSWORD CHANGE

If you have not logged on before and your PASSWORD has not be pre-set by your system administrator your initial password will be PASSWORD.

The system will force you to change it. Click here for further details.

In some situations, including situations where credit cards are going to be processed via RASWIN , it will be necessary for the supervisor to preset your password before you initially log in due to local security requirements, and then you must change it. Once this is done, only you will know your PASSWORD.

There are settings that control several of the requirements for a valid password. For example, it can't contain your name, it can't contain your user_id, it must be a certain length, and may be required to contain special characters and/or numbers. These settings will be administered by the cashiering supervisor. If credit cards are being processed via RASWIN, some password requirements are NOT optional (e.g, the requirement for a minimum length, requiring special characters, etc.)

Return to Security Function

If you will not be using the system for a while, click on the Security icon (or Press f2), so that the next user must properly identify themself. In cases where credit cards are being processing via RASWIN, a logoff function will be automatically activated.

The Main Menu displays a list of several other sub-menus (and icons) you will use to control which function the system performs. The menu options you see on this screen (and most others) depend on your security level. The higher your security level, the more functions you will see and will be able to perform. Options that are not available to you will either not be shown on the menu at all or they will be grayed out so that they can not be selected.

The next few sections of the manual describe the sequence of events for routine daily processing.

In most situations the first function to be performed will be START OF DAY PROCESSING. When you select this option you will be able to set the batch date for the Transactions that will be processed throughout the day until closing time. Section 4 of the user manual describes this function in detail.

Remember that your password may not give you access to all the functions described in the manual. You can skip the sections describing the functions that you won't be using.
